Simulator (Mechanical Horse)Lessons. Tell Me More ...

Simulator Lessons

Rider biomechanics are at the heart of effective, balanced, and harmonious riding — and one of the best ways to explore them is in a controlled, supportive setting. A lesson on with me at one of my clinic venues on a Racewood Simulator, offers you the chance to focus on you — your posture, movement, and feel — without the variables of a live horse. It really is the does give the opportunity to refine and work on what call the ABCS of riding ( Alignment, Balance, Confidence and Synergy) - more on those in another post.

Whether you’re new to riding, returning after a break, rehabbing from injury, pottering about the lanes or competing regularly, simulator sessions provide a fun, effective, and confidence-building way to enhance your riding skills. - Check out the reviews section on my Facebook page or Instagram Highlights to hear what clients say.

I mprove Balance, Symmetry, and Posture

During your hands-on session, you’ll work on the key elements of biomechanics — balance, symmetry, and posture. The simulator provides immediate feedback, allowing you to understand how small changes in your body can make a big difference to your position and effectiveness in the saddle. It’s a focused environment where you can fine-tune your riding without distraction. Combine my supportive coaching style with the power of Ride With Your Mind techniques you'll be on to winner!

Develop Skills to Take Back to the Saddle

What you learn on the simulator transfers directly into your ridden work. By improving your body awareness, alignment and balance you’ll develop better communication with your horse and a clearer understanding of how your position influences your horses movement. Riders often find that even one session helps them ride with more feel, stability, and confidence. ( If you want to bring your hoses along both of the venues I host my simulator clinics at have wonderful indoor and outdoor areas to hire, and we can transfer the learnings from your simulator lesson to your horse).

Confidence to Make Changes

The simulators allow you to experiment and make adjustments without worrying about how your horse might react. You can take time to try new techniques, receive feedback, and build confidence in a warm, dry, and relaxed indoor space. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore your riding in a stress-free environment — and have fun while you do it!

Experience Supportive Training Aids Safely

When appropriate, sessions may include the use of resistance bands and Franklin Balls. As a Certified Franklin Ball Coach I am and able to effectively and safely use these to help you gain a clearer understanding of your body. These tools help activate specific muscles, improve posture, and enhance body awareness. The simulator provides a safe and supportive way to feel their benefits and understand how they can positively influence your riding position.

Tailored, Supportive Coaching for Every Rider

Each session is individually tailored to your goals — whether you want to improve your skills, fitness, or stamina. Lessons are supportive and progressive, designed to give you a clear plan and practical strategies to implement in your riding. Every rider, at every level, can benefit from spending time on the simulator.

Your sessions are taught by myself,  Derry VM, a British Horse Society Accredited Professional Coach (BHS APC), Accredited Rider Biomechanics Coach (RWYM) Mastery Level 1, and Franklin Ball Certified Coach.
